Chris Bonniwell has over seven years of experience in the environmental industry providing technical analysis and planning of remediation activities for soil and groundwater impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons, organic solvents, and toxic metals at commercial and industrial sites. Dr. Bonniwell joined the Wilcox team in 2012, and most recently served as the Regional Technical Director of Investigation and Remediation Services Division (IRSD) while expanding the company’s service area to the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area.  He has played a significant technical role in the advancement of the company’s vapor intrusion practice group and in developing innovative & cost effective approaches to investigation and remediation challenges.  Dr. Bonniwell’s diverse background as an environmental consultant, environmental regulator (Indiana Department of Environmental Management), and manufacturing business leader provides a unique perspective on multiple facets of the environmental industry.

Chris specializes in the development of Remediation Work Plans (RWPs) utilizing multiple remedial approaches that reflect recent changes in Indiana’s environmental laws, specifically House Enrolled Act 1162. His remedial approaches include combinations of mass reduction, exposure prevention, and characterization of plume behavior to assure long-term protectiveness of human health. He has experience and familiarity with all remedial programs within the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) as a former IDEM geologist. Served as an IDEM group leader in the development of IDEM guidance on contaminant plume behavior for the recently adopted Remediation Closure Guide. He also has experience and familiarity with steel manufacturing and fabricating operations and equipment (abrasive water jets, rotary punch turrets, press brakes, shears, lathes, and MIG welding).
